Editor’s Note: The Why we give series features The Art of Style in Raleigh who are actively donating a portion of their monthly credit card transaction fees to a special charity of their choice.
Local Raleigh business, The Art of Style is a boutique that features modern, clean, classic, yet current clothing, shoes and accessories for men and women. “We want people to be themselves and express themselves through clothing,” says Kendra Leonard, owner of The Art of Style. “That is what clothing is all about to help express your style, personality and mood.”
While charitable giving may not always be part of the initial business plan, The Art of Style has a very giving heart, which is the foundation of what they do.
“When I learned about Merchant Match Charitie’s Impact Partner Program, I immediately signed up,” says Leonard. To date, The Art of Style has raised 85,000 for The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society to help find a cure for cancer.
“The program is an organic and natural way to continue to give back,” says Leonard. “We also sell ‘Cancer Sucks’ T-shirts and 100 percent of those proceeds go to charity and now a portion of credit card sales do too, which we have an abundance.”
Like most small business owners, Leonard doesn’t have a lot of time to figure out new systems troubleshoot or deal with downtime. “The transition to Merchant Match Charity was seamless,” says Leonard. “They took care of everything and my transactions have been going through since day one. When I was having issues downloading information to my computer, it was immediately taken care of for me.”
Leonard isn’t shy about her enthusiasm for the Giving Back program. “I get really excited about sharing this information. I plan on having many stores and brands, and I want to use this as my merchant system forever. It’s an amazing way to give back and an incredibly easy way.
We’ll continue to raise money to fight cancer, one transaction at a time.”
